Daisy Avellana - Wife
Lamberto Avelllana was a prominant film and theatre director, he directed more than 70 films in a career that spanned six decades Avellana was awarded the title National Artist of the Philippines for theatre and film in 1976.
Avellan studied at Ateneo de Manila where he became a teacher and aspired to promote Filipino theater. As a filmaker he developed a style where the camera was used to present a point-of-view. Avellana was the first Filipino director to have his film Kandelerong Pilak (silver Candlesticks) screened at the Cannes film festival.
Anak Dalita (1956) and Badjao (1957) perhaps stand as his most prominent works. Anak Dalita, which was named Best Film at the 1956 Asia-Pacific Film Festival, was a realistic portrayal of poverty-stricken Filipinos coping with the aftermath of World War II Badjao was a love-story among the sea-dwelling Badjaos, an indigenous Filipino people hailing from Mindanao.
