Nazaria Lagos was known as the “Florence Nightingale of Panay”. She was appointed as the Red Cross president of Duenas during the organisation of the first Red Cross in Iloilo in 1897.

NAZARIA LAGOS   

During the Revolution Lagos nursed revolutionaries and became the Revolution's first nurse and later, director of the hospital of the Revolutionary army.

 

When the American troops occupied Iloilo, they burned the Lagos home and the hospital and Nazaria’s family was forced to flee .
