Adam Malik was the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Indonesia between 1966 and 1971 and Indondesia's third vice president between 1978 and 1983.

ADAM MALIK

In 1967, Malik, together with the Foreign Ministers of Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore would officially form ASEAN in a bid to form a united front in the face of Communist expansion in Vietnam. Malik insisted that ASEAN should only be about economic, not military cooperation.

 

In 1971, Malik was chosen as President of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

In 1978 President Suharto was elected President for a 3rd term and chose Malik to be his Vice President. .
