Dr. EDITH TIEMPO

22 April 1919 to 21 August 2011 

Edith Tiempo was a poet and writer in the English language and was awarded National Artist of the Philippines for literature in 1999.

Edith Tiempo is proclaimed as one of the Philippines foremost writers in English. Her poetry is hailed for its witty and complex wordplay. This characteristic is most evident in two of her most famous poem’s “Bonsai” and “The Little Marmoset.”
