Ramon Valera was a fashion desinger. He was posthumously awarded the Philippine National Artist for Fashion in 2006.
Valera was on of the first male fashion designers in the 1930s to 1960s. He was known in particular for his elegant gowns and ternos. His clientelle include the First Ladies Aurora Quezon and Imelda Marcos.
In the early 1940s, Valera unifed the components of a blouse, skirt, overskirt and long scarf into a single dress with exagerated bell sleeves which became the terno's defining feature.
