Pilar Hidalgo-Lim distinguished herself as the first woman to graduate with honours
from the University of the Philippines in 1913. The year she graduated from UP, she
joined its staff as a mathematics teacher. She continued teaching there until 1917.
Hidalgo-Lim also worked as an instructor at the Centro Escolar University. Later,
she served as its secretary and in 1962 became the president of the university.
Hidalgo-Lim received many awards particularly in the fields of civic and social work
and education.
Hidalgo-Lim was a resolute advocate of women's suffrage. She spearheaded the women's
suffrage movement in the Philippines.
