Pilar Hidalgo-Lim was a well-known advocate of women's right of suffrage and is one of the founders of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. She was also president of the Centro Escolar University

PILAR HIDALGO-LIM    

Pilar Hidalgo-Lim distinguished herself as the first woman to graduate with honours from the University of the Philippines in 1913. The year she graduated from UP, she joined its staff as a mathematics teacher. She continued teaching there until 1917. Hidalgo-Lim also worked as an instructor at the Centro Escolar University. Later, she served as its secretary and in 1962 became the president of the university.

 

Hidalgo-Lim received many awards particularly in the fields of civic and social work and education.

 

Hidalgo-Lim was a resolute advocate of women's suffrage. She spearheaded the women's suffrage movement in the Philippines.
