Levi Celerio was a composer and lyricist, with more than 4,000 songs to his acclaim including Filipino folk, Christmas, and love songs that are popular pieces. In 1997 he was named National Artist of the Philippines for Music.

Levi Celerio was famous for being a lyricist, his songs treasure life, express nationalistic sentiments and complete grand philosophies.
His popular lyrics include the Christmas songs Pasko na Naman, Ang Pasko ay Sumapit, and Misa de Gallo.
Celerio was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the only man who could play music with a leaf.
