Salvador Araneta served as Secretary of Economic Coordination under President Quirino, Secretary of Agriculture under President Magsaysay, and as member of the National Economic Council.

Araneta was a member of the Philippine Constitutional Convention of 1933 and 1971

 

In 1946, Araneta founded two educational institutions which later attained university status. He first founded Gregorio Araneta University Foundation, the first private agricultural school after World War II, together with his brothers Vicente and Ramon (and named after his father). It was subsequently renamed the De La Salle Araneta University. He also founded FEATI University to train engineers and mechanics for Far Eastern Air Transportation, Inc., which he also founded, the first post-war airline in the Philippines.

 

In the flour industry, he established the Republic Flour Mills or RFM Corporation. To extract soybeans he put up Republic Soya. To manufacture electric motors, Feati Industries was established. For animal feeds he set up AIA Feed Mills in 1948 and AIA Biological Laboratories to manufacture animal vaccines.
